On this page, you , our visitor, will find some of the more interesting examples of cases that SSPRS has worked on over the years. This section will grow as time goes on.

These are not the only cases SSPRS has worked on but some of the most fun, eerie, and downright spooky. Please send any comments or thoughts to:  SSPRS@the-atlantic-paranormal-society.com

Dolan Family House Investigation, Fall Branch, TN

SSPRS conducted this investigation in 2006.

According to legend, a home in Fall Branch, TN, derelict and abandoned, was once the home of a very wealthy man during the Civil War era, and the house looked it too, despite years of neglect, one could see that it had once been stately, elegant.

The house was unique in design, with round entrances and octogon-like rooms and each room had a door into the other. The house was laden with artifacts, which we hoped to come back some day and salvage to return to the local historical society for preservation.

Moving through the house, we kept going over the legend of the original owners, the Dolan family.
The story goes that Mr. Dolan one evening lost his mind. Why is not known.

He methodically murdered his family, starting with his daughter, in the basement, hiding her remains. Then moved on to his wife and finally shot himself in the upstairs rooms. His wife and his bodies were near each other, but his daughter's was to never be recovered.

For years, families tried to inhabit the home, failing, all leaving shortly after moving in.
The last occupant, according to rumor, was an elderly lady in the 1950s. She would tell wild stories about the house, about shadows and apparitions, and screams and a heavy violent entity that would stalk her, terrifying her to the point that she would sleep with her eyes open.

Finally, she could take no more and left the house, after which it stood empty and fell into disrepair.
It became a hotspot for satanic rituals and teenagers drinking and drugs.

An SSPRS Agent brought the house to our attention and we investigated after the agent and his friend had some very unnerving experiences there, including an episode of possession where he turned and attacked the Agent, not remembering later after questioning.

SSPRS investigated one evening and took many photos, of which only one turned out anything but orbs. You can see it below. We have dubbed it the Plasma Lights. There was no electricity in the house, no running water, nothing that could have made those lights. The photo was taken in total darkness with no flash and no light sources.

As for measurements, we found the nail and area that the father supposedly hung his daughter from. The EMF fields in that area were quite high, reaching over 2.0 mG and rising and falling, never steady.

We also found a hole in the floor that looked directly over the basement area where the girls body supposedly still lies, locked in its tomb of mud and stone, trapped due to the massive flooding in that area.

We attempted an EVP session over that spot with provacation because nothing outright had happened up to that point.

What happened next we have not been able to explain to this day and it is truely one of the most eerie experiences I have ever dealt with.

While standing over the hole, after speaking to the little girl's spirit, asking her to show herself, we all felt a shaft of air explode out of the basement and stay in place directly in the center of the hole, never moving but bitterly cold.

At that moment, EMF meter went absolutely crazy, flying wildly from zero to maxing out, beeping and flashing. We felt a presence in the room with us, and while we cannot provide any objective proof for said presence, we felt it was there, tormented and angry.

We captured nothing on camera try as we might, but the friend-turned agent began to sway on the spot, like a snake who's being charmed. He changed then and there, and was no longer himself, mumbling in a low gravelly voice.

The experience was wild enough up until the point we felt something else in the house. Something cruel and evil. We felt what we believe to be the father spirit in the house then, for the first time, and the room grew ice cold, measured at 31 degrees Farenhiet and dropping low enough for us to see our breaths.

My sister also accompanied us to the investigation and she was holding the digital recorder at which point she asked " What is making you so angry?"
The EVP response is quite clear. " It's YOU!"

We left the house shortly thereafter, our tapes full and batteries dead. We had every intention of returning again.

Unfortunately, in 2007, a bunch of teenagers ( we suspect) gathered and torched the house, burning it to the ground.

The loss of a paranormal site is terrible enough, but with the destruction of the house we also lost the chance to perhaps make a crack at recovering the poor girls body and giving a proper burial.

The fire is overshadowed by the ironic fact that weeks before the burning, the house was designated a new historic landmark and was to be restored and turned into a museum.

It never saw the chance and we at SSPRS at left with questions.
Questions that will never be answered.

Dolan House, Fall Branch, TN: Abandoned Home: Plasma Lights?

This strange photo was captured with a Samsung Digimax A503 5.0 Megapixel Digital Camera. No flash was used and it was taken on a recent investigation to a abandoned home called the Dolen House in Fall Branch, TN on the second floor facing a wall
and a an open door.

There are no lights, let alone electricity in the home, and no streetlights. Its not a film error and we have compared it to control photos and cannot explain what it is, only what it is not. We theorize that it could be some type of self contained plasma, due to its liquid light like appearence, self luminance, and obvious motion.

Each energy is four bands wide with a center spiral of energy that seems to travel up and down the four bands as the beams move. This speculation was drawn from the way the beams were caught in motion. If you have any ideas or theories about what they could be, please email us and let us know them. We would really appreciate it.

This is the only photo out of those taken that showed any type of activity.

Private Residence Investigation, Big Stone Gap, VA.

Date: 10/25/2006

SSPRS was asked to investigate a local home for sale by a realty company, who's identity was agreed to be kept silent. As always, SSPRS will never breech a contract of confedentiality.

This house, which grand and large in scale was built by a prominent local business man who was deeply in love with a woman. In fact, the house was built for her.
The two were deeply in love and soon the house was completed.

After the completion, the couple had a monumental falling out, and split up. The man never lived in the house, and died on the operating table of a massive myocardial infarction shortly after the dispute.

The woman ran screaming from the house one night and reportedly yelled, " I cannot live there as long as HE is haunting it!" . She left all of her belongings and refused to re-enter the property. After her belongings were removed for her, the house sat empty for years but no one could make it a home.

In 2006, the house was renovated and was going to be placed back on the market. To help investigate the claim that the house was haunted, the realty company learned of SSPRS and called us in to investigate.

We captured several EVPS and photos, which can be viewed or listened to on this site.
Below are the photos. Please see the EVP page for the recordings. If you come across anything we have missed or think you have an answer for the results we captured, please let us know at a_milhorn@ssprstn.com .

We left the house with the impression that there was no paranormal activity in the home, but the objective data showed differently and in fact, their may be genuine activity there. SSPRS was not asked to do a clearing but will return to preform one at the new owner's request if needed.

Private Residence, Big Stone Gap, VA: Tri-Orbs

This picture was captured during an investigation of a private residence on October 27th, 2006 by SSPRS. It was captured on a VivaCam 3715B 3.0 Megapixel digital camera.

We are assuming that it could be lens flare, but to be safe, we are presenting it to you to make your own determination.

EMF Readings were 0 and the temperature was 56 degrees F.

Private Residence, Big Stone Gap, VA: Possible Comet-Like Light Plasma

This photo was take directly after the above Tri-Orb photograph. It is an odd way for lens flare to manifest, and it appears to be similar to a comet, with a pink outside and a blue core, and is vaguely bowl shaped. We are not sure what to make of this either as it could go either way. We leave it to you to decide. It was taken with a VivaCam 3715B, and the EMF was 0 and the temperature was 56 degrees F.

Private Residence, Big Stone Gap, VA

This photo has no paranormal activity, but was placed up to merely show the scale of the house itself. The house was five bedrooms, with a bathroom in each bedroom, two seperate baths, one upstairs and one down, three car garage, fully finished basement with a wet bar, inground pool, and of course, this absolutely beautiful chandalier, which turns out, was real crystal and gold. A fantastic house.

Weaver's Cemetary Redux Hunt: Completed 9/28/2007

Below are some of the photos we at SSPRS took the night of 9/28/07 on our re-investigation of Weaver's Cemetary in Bluff City, TN. We have an ongoing relationship with the caretaker and already had permission from our first investigation in 2004, which turned out with no objective evidence.

For years, Bluff City teenages have been breaking into the cemetary at night, and used it as a favored necking spot in which to conduct their less than wholesome activities. A few of them claimed to encounter supernatural activity at the cemetary, which dates back to the days of the Revolutionary War.

The front gate of the cemetary holds a bronze plaque, which reads:

    Weaver's Cemetary
in Honor of All of the Revolutionary War Soldiers Who Lie Buried Here. Volunteer Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution. Bristol, TN 1930.

Needless to say, it is a historic site.  SSPRS has seen the rumors many times about Weaver's and we are going to put them to rest once and for all. It is the collective opinion that Weaver's Cemetary is not haunted.

We spent several hours in the cemetary again on the 28th of September to gauge the supposed activity on site. We took various measurements and photos, and EVP sessions. The photos revealed nothing that stood up to the debunking and are free of anomalies. The measurements also remained flatlined and no EVPS were captured.

We also had zero personal experiences, with one exception. During the last investigation of Weaver's, one team member felt the name of Sara Hue come her mind very strongly. After repeating it several times,  I asked her to show me the headstone the spirit was showing her.

The agent walked the team straight to it, though she could not possibly have known the stone's location before hand as the investigation was a complete surprise to the agents after a team meeting and the agent was not from Tennessee, nor was she familiar with it at all.

With all of this being said, we will post some of the photos of the investigation on the 28th, and the case report as well. The photos from 2004 as well as 2007, appear to be empty of activity.

We at SSPRS see no hunt or investigation as a lost cause or a luck out, but rather as a learning experience on which to grow and build our foundations on.

If in reviewing these photos, you come across something you feel as if we have missed, please bring it to our attention by emailing us at :  a_milhorn@ssprstn.com

Thanks!

SSPRS arrives with a few guest investigators to once again investigate Weaver's Cemetary and put the rumors to rest once and for all.

s6300027.jpg

Our guest Investigators, Candice Carver, Kendra Surcey and Jodie Carver learn some of the finer points of paranormal research and investigation.

Yes, we have noticed the orbs and do not count them as evidence.

s6300045.jpg

Co-Founder Josh "Shaggy" Arnold checks out one of the many older tombstones dating back to the late 1700s.

The tombstones in the older section of the cemetary are very artful and beautiful in their designs, many bearing inscriptions of hope and yes, of grief.

s6300065.jpg

Co-Founder's Lori Barnette and Josh "Shaggy" Arnold continue their explorations of the mysteries and fascinating aspects of burial and tombstone design, often making the tragic discovery that many of these graves belong to children, some of whom never made it past their first year in life.

This particular set of headstones are strange in that, traditionally, Christian burial sites always have their tombstones facing east, so that when, according to belief, the End of Days comes, they can rise to the Sun and be assured to rise facing Christ.

These stones do not face east, instead facing south.
Upon reading the stones closer, all three of them were confirmed to be children.

s6300075.jpg

Co-Founder and Case Manager, Lori Barnette stands contemplating, feeling the cemetary for any subjective impressions or activity.

We have noticed the orbs and once again, do not count them as evidence.

As for the white blob in the lower corner of the photo we believe it is a tombstone caught too close in the flash. However, if you have any other theories, please email us at a_milhorn@ssprstn.com !

s6300115.jpg

This is one of the stranger tombs we found.

It appears to be holding three seperate graves under a giant slab of carved marble, each with a different story and occupant's epitath.

The middle one in particular seems to be very dark in nature and reads at the bottom, spookily, " He Rose on November 13th, 1980."

We have up until this time found no conclusive explanation for this, except that it means he rose to heaven.

s6300098.jpg

The SSPRS Team and guests stand in a moment of silence, listening and watching for the rumored Black Aggie, the spirit of a murdered witch, who is supposedly buried in the cemetary.

Her spirit is said to chase unwanted visitors out, screaming and clawing.

We found no Black Aggie, and no records of any witch buried in the cemetary.

s6300080.jpg

One of the more unnerving aspects we discovered, is that many of the graves seem newly filled in.

This is most likely due to the fact that the last time we visited, many of the graves were sinking and were dangerous to not only visitors but the graves themselves.

s6300046.jpg

Yet another filled in sunken grave.

This time, most paranormal investigators would say we have a visitor, in the shape of a very large orb floating over the dirt.

However, in seeing this we already found the explanation for the "visitor".

Dirt.
